2006 News at Kingston Farm

Finally Pictures of Dixie (Couleur Leager)
Well, I couldn't stand it anymore and put my 8 year old son in charge of the camera. He did pretty well on the action shots don't you think? She was ridden once back in March and before then some pony rides for the kids here and there. She is so much fun to ride and just the easiest! See more pictures on our Mares page.

The Really Good News and the Really Bad News
Rio (Ruffian/Leah/Roemer) and Gabrielle went to the Region 1 BLM Finals. The good news is they did really, really well. Great in fact! They had the highest score out of 30-some horses in the Training Level Adult Amateurs BLM Finals class. Their score was a 69+% which included a 9 on gaits! Now the bad news. They were disqualified. :-( The bit they were using was a KK with the little disc roller in the center. It is advertised in the Dover catalog as being "USEF Legal" and endorsed by Lisa Wilcox. Apparently it is not legal in a championship class. They had been bit checked throughout the year with no problems so it was a total shock and a big disappointment for them. But look out, they will be in the show ring next show season too and a team to watch out for. Rio and Gab, you are both champions in our book! Big, Big Congrats!

The Girls Do It Again!
Rio (Ruffian/Leah/Roemer) and Gabrielle did it again! This time at Dressage at Lexington. This is a very competitive show both in the performance and breed show divisions. They came home with two 2nd place ribbions at Training level with scores in the mid-high 60's at the performance show. At the breed show Rio won the 4yo Mare class with a 75.6% and the 4yo under saddle class with a 74.2% and was 3rd in the Championship class. All this with Gabrielle holding the reins and doing all the handling and riding herself! Gabrielle says, "I also got to do my first white polo wrap victory canter for Training level SHAQ". Woo-Hoo!!!!

Check out our Sales page to see new pictures of Bravo Bear at 3.5 months old! He is still wowing us with his movement, good looks and temperament He's shed out most of his baby fur and I swear his legs have doubled in length. His dam, Leah has done another wonderful job. :-)

Rio at the Raleigh CDI

Rio (Ruffian/Leah/Roemer) and Laurenzo (Longchamp/Favre/Walldorf) both did well at the highly competitive Raleigh CDI 3*/Y, Capital Dressage Classic. Rio received scores of 63.7% and 64% at Training level and also took home 2nd place with a 74.4% in the 4yo Materiale class. Laurenzo also did very well with scores of 63%, 65% and 67% at First Level. Way to go!

Bravo Bear (aka, Teddy) is 3 Weeks Old

Teddy is filling out and looking good! His movement is really spectacular! It's been hard to keep our eyes off him when he's out running and playing. There's lots of joy out there. :-) His personality is so loveable too. He whinnies to us everytime we make our way to the barn.

March 14, 2006 - Bravo Bear is here!

Bravo Bear was born on March 14th at the very decent hour of 6:25pm. He's by Sir Sinclair out of Leah by Roemer. Elegant describes this guy. He has the smallest, chisled little head and ears. Bay with absolutely no white. Very friendly and fuzzy. My daughter has christened him "Teddy" since he's so soft and fuzzy like her teddy bear. Care Bears are one of her favorite things so Bravo Bear follows their naming scheme as well as the Dutch's 'B' year.

March 2006 - March Magic Dressage Show, Williamston, NC

Rioja Reserva (Ruffian/Leah/Roemer) and Gabrielle Fleming debuted in their first USDF recognized show and boy did they make a first impression! Gabrielle says, "Rio whinnied every time I took her out of the barn. Not to her stablemates, just to see who was listening. By the time we got to the warm up ring she was quiet and totally focused on me in the show ring." They showed in Intro A and B both days and came home with 3 first place ribbons and one third with their scores being 61%, 68%, 72% and 74%. Big congrats girls!

September 2005 - NCDCTA Labor of Love, Raleigh, NC

Laurenzo (Longchamp/EM Favre) did it again. Karen reports that he was 2nd and 3rd in his classes at the Raleigh show on Saturday, settled down and went on to win his class on Sunday with a 73.75% and the highest score posted at Training Level for the entire weekend! Way to go!

July 2005 - Breed Show in Lexington,Va

Gabrielle took Rioja Reserva (Ruffian/Leah) to the large breed show in Lexington, Va. She called to let me know that Rio was 4th in her Fillies of 2002 class with a 77.59%. Rio figured out what it was all about and went on to win the Oldenburg Verband class with a 78.8.! You go girls!

September 2004 - Pinehurst Fall Dressage (USDF)

Photos by Mary Messinger

Laurenzo (Longchamp/EM Favre) went to his first show with new owner Karen Rourk. At 17.1h and showing off his big gaits, his presence could not go unnoticed. He came home with a 68% and 70% at Training 1 and 2 with just 4 months under saddle! Karen said she could not have asked for him to be any better even if he had been at home. His disposition and rideability were outstanding. Congratulations Karen and Laurenzo!

October 18, 2004 -- AHS American Hanoverian Mare Performance Testing

Well, after being out of the show scene to have kids, both Mary and Favre (Walldorf/Gesandt) got in the ring at the American Hanoverian's Mare Performance testing in Atlanta, Ga. Favre had already achieved her 7.0 conformation and in-hand score to go towards her Elite status with the AHS when she was a 3 year old. She has since had 2 outstanding colts by Longchamp (Laurenzo - see below) and Fabriano (see Full Scoop). The only task left to be awarded her Elite status was the performance testing. Favre was a star scoring a 9 in jumping ability, an 8 on her canter, and nothing less than 7's with a final score of 7.44 and high scoring mare for the day. Yeah Favre!
